UNPLASTIFY CHALLENGE FOR SCHOOLS

Be part of a new unplastifying adventure!

What is it?

An international educational program designed to empower 15 and 16 year-olds to actively engage in the global issue of plastic.

Who is it aimed at?

This Challenge invites 15 and 16-year-olds to devise, design, and implement a strategy to eradicate disposable plastic from their community.

What do they do?

In teams of 4 members, and guided by their mentors, young people go through project management stages to bring their ideas into action. They develop their projects implementing real solutions to reduce single-use plastic consumption.

How do they do it?

The Challenge is designed in a competition format. Young people participate in webinars and workshops, complete tasks, and share progress with the rest of the teams through our Unplastify Web App. Throughout the program, they receive scores and feedback, so at the end, the finalist teams with the highest scores present their projects to a panel of experts at a closing event.

PROJECT BASED LEARNING

We believe that this is the key to develop a deep understanding of these issues: learning by doing. This way, we seek to make young people should be the main characters of their learning.

Our Pillars

CHANGEMAKERS SKILLS

By working on a real, global issue, we seek to empower changemakers as part of the real world solution out in the real world. We focus on leadership, communication, impact and cooperation as indispensable skills for the participants that are today's leaders.

AGILE AND DESIGN THINKING

This program is inspired by the agile method and design thinking, where the teams converge and diverge in order to sharpen their strategy. Creativity and teamwork are the key.

Shortly, we will be launching the 10th edition of the Unplastify Challenge for Schools. For more information, you can reach us at education@unplastify.com or through our social media channels: @unplastify.eD

We'd like to share with you some of the projects from the previous editions

"The Unplastify Challenge is the best thing that could have happened to my students. It's not just a project; it's more of a transformative journey that helps young people not only break free from plastic but also turn them into true revolutionaries, capable of creating a sustainable future. Through action and participation, young global citizens become more aware of environmental issues and strive to find practical solutions. The challenge shapes future leaders who can make a greener and cleaner world a reality."

Iryna Kharchenko / Taras Shevchenko Lyceum / Ukraine

"My students used to think that plastic was harmless and could easily biodegrade, but after getting involved in the Challenge, many of them understood the extent to which plastics endanger both the environment and their overall health. The Challenge for Schools raised awareness about the effects of plastic on the environment and promoted the use of non-plastic items. Now they are good ambassadors for Unplastify, convincing others to stop using plastic items at school."

Ronald Felix / Nkuu Secondary School / Tanzania

“The Unplastify Challenge for Schools was a surprise for me on so many levels. Initially, there was a bit of fear as I watched the deadlines approach while the work was still in progress. However, they managed it, and they've been handling everything with much more responsibility than I expected. Now, when I see a new task, I am at peace because I know they can handle it. Suddenly, they embraced the project in a way that made me take a step back to let them lead. I've been witnessing their personal growth each time a challenge arises, and this is something I couldn't have realized without Unplastify. I thank you all for the opportunity to be part of this”
