SAILING ACROSS THE ATLANTIC
We will sail across the Atlantic on a sailboat, Fanky, a 37-feet Hallberg Rassy, named honoring an Argentine song by Charly Garcia.
The itinerary starts in New York in April 2018 and takes us to Gibraltar. We will stop by Bermuda and Azores. We expect to finish by the end of June. Fanky crew will vary throughout the voyage.
We will share our journey and our findings in social media and our blog. Follow @unplastify to stay tuned!
CRAZY ABOUT PLASTIC WASTE
My name is Agustina and my friends call me Tati. I am obsessed with trash and I am crazy about plastic. I have worked for many years to recover this wasted treasure.
I am from Argentina and I’ve been living in New York for about 5 years, where I’ve studied sustainability and run a community recycling center that managed +30,000 cans and bottles a day. I am also a great advocate and believer in circular economy.
The Unplastify team is formed by a group of amazing women, also crazy about plastic waste.
WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
WE ARE CURIOUS TO UNDERSTAND THE ISSUE OF PLASTIC
After living in one of the cities that generates more waste per capita in the world, and having worked surrounded by mountains of plastics, I am really curious to understand better the issue of plastics and how can we unplastify the world.
"I decided to embark on an adventure to explore the misuse of plastics,
starting where this problem seems to be more serious, the ocean."
